2016年は、ツアー・オブ・ジャパンでオスカル・プジョル選手（スペイン）がチーム史上初となるUCIレースでの総合優勝を飾り、続くツール・ド・熊野も制して、シーズンが終わってみればUCIアジアツアーチームランキング3位という大躍進の年となった。最終目標はツール・ド・フランス出場であり、2016年で国内の「Jプロツアー」は卒業し、2017年シーズンからUCIレースに専念。2017年は春先から、ベンジャミ・プラデス選手（スペイン）がツール・ド・台湾で総合優勝を飾り、ツール・ド・とちぎではステージ2勝、更にツアー・オブ・タイランドでもステージを獲っており、2017年のツアー・オブ・ジャパンでは連覇が期待される。

2016 was a year of great triumph for the team: Oscar Pujol achieving first victory in general classification for the team at Tour of Japan, followed by another win at Tour de Kumano, and ended up placing 3rd in UCI Asia Tour team ranking. Team UKYO’s final goal is racing in Tour de France, and they decided to withdraw from domestic “J-Pro Tour”, focusing on UCI races from 2017 season. The team already is starting its successful season, Benjamin Prades (Spain) winning general classification at Tour de Tai-wan, 2 stage wins at Tour de Tochigi and another stage conquered at Tour of Thailand, and hopefully another complete victory in this year’s Tour of Japan.
