地域密着型チームのリーダー的存在。活動は国内中心だが、2016年シーズンは、ツアー・オブ・ジャパンでエースの増田成幸選手が日本人選手最上位のリザルトを残し、続くツール・ド・熊野ではステージ2勝、そして、国内のUCIレースであるツール・ド・北海道とツール・ド・おきなわを増田選手が連続で制して、日本人選手のみのチーム構成ながらUCIアジアツアーチームランキング12位に食い込む快挙をみせた。2017年早々に小野寺玲選手がアジアチャンピオンに輝くなど、若手育成の分野に於いても成果を挙げている。また、レース活動だけでなく、様々な地域貢献活動や社会貢献活動、イベントやレース運営なども行っており、そのチームバリューは非常に高い。

Utsunomiya Blitzen is in the leading position of local-friendly teams, which is considered as one of the major role of professional sports in Japan. Based on this philosophy their main target is domestic races, however the team achieved to place 12th in UCI Asia Tour team ranking with only Japanese riders, including Nariyuki Masuda (Japan) who had best record among Japanese riders in 2016 Tour of Japan and won both domestic UCI races Tour de Hokkaido and Tour de Okinawa. They are also successful in developing young talents, such as Rei Onodera (Japan) who became Asian Champion early this year. Their value is not only about the race results, but their activities in event and race management and local contributions are also noteworthy.
