This year sees the sixth Tour Of Japan, first recognized by the UCI in 1996,when it was given a 2-5 category classification as Japan's national stage race. Later the classification was later raised to 2-4 and Fewer than half the teams are from japan : of the seventeen participating teams, six are trade teams and another four are overseas national teams. This means we can look forward to some superb team racing by teams polished from year-round action. The opportunity to experience and witness competition against overseas teams, has naturally inspired domestic teams to raise their riding skills. Meanwhile, fans have been able to enjoy a more full-bodied taste of the excitement of real cycling.
