Profiles of Oversea Trade Teams....................As of April 17,1998
Team " CANTINA TOLLO-ALEXIA ALLUMINIO"
(World ranking of 19th in 1998).....This year is their third year. This Italian team has changed and reformed the team greatly. Due to the strong enforcement of the team, it became the division one team. The biggest aimof the team is to win the race of GIRO D' ITALIA which is to be held at same time by Serguei Gontchar In order to acomplish the goal,their team to "Tour of Japan" is mainly younger riders.
"CANTINA TOLLO" is the wine trading company.
Team " MROZ"
(World ranking of 27th in 1998).....This is the first appearance of 26 years old Japanese rider Osamu Kurimura wearing the uniform of "MROZ" who transfered the team from "Shimano Racing". Cezary Zanana who joined this race last year and Piotr Wadecki who is the champion uniform of Poland will also scheduled to come to Japan. They may be the centre of the hurricane because of their experiences in last year and has a motivation because of having a Japanese rider.
"MROZ" is meat exporting company.
Team " AMORE & VITA FORZARCORE"
(World ranking 29th in 1998).....The trade mark of this team is red and black coloured zebra designed uniform and is the regular participating team of GIRO D' ITALIA. Marco Cannone who used to raced for Nippon Hodo in last year will race as an ace rider.
"AMORE & VITA" is the religious sect which is backed by the Roman Catholic Pope.
"FORZARCORE" is the advertizing agency.
Team " DIE CONTINENTALE - OLYMPIA"
(World ranking 37th in 1998).....In Germany Jan Ullrich won the first winning at "Tour de France" last year and the Bycile race became the sports event which attracts the lot of attentions from the public like Football,Tennis. Although the members of this German team is consisted mainly by local German riders, they changed the member so much and is now battling with others in this season.
"DIE CONTINENTALE" is the Insurance company.
Team " SATURN "
(World ranking 30th in 1998).....With Bart Bowen who won the general winning last year in the team, this American team is coming to target the two consecutive winning. Bryan Walton of Canada and other 4 American riders is scheduled to assist. To see how to control the rival team by the team which has a good balance of young and veteran riders is interesting point.
"SATURN" is the American Automobile company.
Team " ZVVZ-DLD"
(World ranking 43th in 1998).....At nation ranking Cze Republic is ranked at far higher position than Japan and has a good potential power.
Until last year this team needed the management and riders from Austria but in this season, most of them were replaced by Cze. Pay attention to Babaitsev of Russia who has a winning experience at the stage race in Spain and Bilek who won the Peace race in 1993.
